2019 Theme and Purpose:
Agriculture is one of the rare industries that can play a pivotal role in furthering several United Nations SD Goals. Empowerment of youth, women, and girls, zero hunger and food security and how we co-exist with the physical land we live on while developing an inclusive economy all benefit from a healthy and innovative agricultural sector. Sustainable food production and local sourcing are the key focus areas this year and innovative solutions combining urban farming and technology demonstrate that agriculture is ready for Industry 4.0.
This year’s African Sustainability Summit will showcase ground-breaking Agricultural Project Collaboration including:
- African Agricultural Transformation Roadmap Vision 2030, a collaborative project with the African Agri Council and the African Development Bank
- Urban Farming Projects: Redefining the fresh produce value chain from farm to fork, through use of innovative Agri-technology and digital transformation (IoT, AI, and Machine Learning) eliminating land and water constraints, logistics and packaging.
- New commercial scale Agri-projects, enabling sustainable transformation and creating shared value in the African agricultural sector.
- Bilateral Agri-trade agreements (Inter and Intra-Africa Trade)
- Balancing import and export volues, logistics and efficiencies.
The Indaba co-location will provide ASS attendees and sponsors to grow international networks and build a bridge towards intra-Africa trade and collaboration and play fundamental roles in reshaping Africa’s agricultural potential.
